The maps illustrate how a waterfront area of a town called

Darwin changed from 2009 to 2014.

Overall, the most significant changes can be seen in the central area of the town, where all of the industrial areas were removed, and thereafter the town was mainly used for residential purposes. Meanwhile, most of the facilities surrounding the lake remained unchanged.

Over the course of five years, the school, convention center, fishing area to the north and the two swimming pools to the south of the lake remained intact. In the southern area, a footpath stretching from the western main road has been constructed providing access to the harbour. A third swimming pool was also constructed between the lake and the school, replacing the industrial area previously located there.

On the western side of the area, a new building was built for university education, while three new blocks of residential buildings were erected, raising the total number of buildings to six. The area to the south, previously an industrial area, was replaced with vegetation.

Sample Answer 2 :

The diagrams detail how the waterfront area of Darwin town changed from 2009 to 2014. It is apparent that the most significant change is the addition of green spaces at the expense of the industrial zone, whereas most facilities in this area stayed the same over the years.

In 2009, at the center of the waterfront, there were two industrial areas of different sizes separated by the footpath, and just 3 residential blocks located in the bigger industrial area. By 2014, those industrial zones had disappeared completely. In the smaller area a new swimming pool was added near the lake. In the larger area, 3 new buildings and a university were constructed, and a number of green trees were planted. Also, in the south-eastern coast of the town, a new harbor was built, which could be accessed from the main road through a new footpath running through the green area.

Regarding the remaining facilities, they experienced no change over the period. Along the road leading to the fishing area were the school and the convention, and it is of note that this fishing area, together with the two swimming pools nearby, remained unchanged.
