Pie Charts #24: The percentage of people working in different sectore in town A and town B

The charts below show the percentage of people working in different sectore in town A and town B in 1960, 2010.


Sample 1 :

The pie charts compare the proportion of workers in three sectors, including manufacturing, sales, and services, in town A and town B in 1960 and 2010.

Overall, in town A, service-related jobs became more popular than those in other sectors and made up the biggest percentage in 2010. Meanwhile, in town B, despite the growth of jobs in the service and sales sectors, manufacturing jobs still made up the majority of jobs(1) over the given period of time.

In town A, 41% of all jobs in 1960 were in manufacturing , while the sales and service sectors made up much lower percentages, of around 30% for each. By 2010 the percentage of service-related jobs had more than doubled, while the percentage of jobs in the two other industries halved(2).

In town B, the percentage of service-related jobs also rose, but less significantly than that of town A, with 10% in 1960 and 25% in 2010. Meanwhile, the figure for manufacturing jobs was still highest, at 53% in 2010, despite a drop of nearly one-third.
Sales-related jobs saw a slight increase, from 20% in 1960 to 22% in 2010.

Sample 2 :

The given pie chart gives information about the distribution of the workforce in towns A and B in the years 1960 and 2000. Overall, people in town A in 1960 mostly worked in the manufacturing industry but after 4 decades, the majority of them moved to sales. Meanwhile, manufacturing was still the leader in town B throughout 40 years.

In town A, in 1960, 41% of working adults chose to be in the manufacturing industry, but this figure dropped by half in 2010. Manufacturing jobs in town B also decreased but less steeply from 70% to 53% but manufacturing still remained top in town B. For town A, services were dominant in 2010 with the figure increasing more than twofold from 29% to 64%. This sector in town B also mirrored this climb, doubling from 10% to 25% between 1960 and 2010.

Turning to sales positions, for town A the rate halved from 30% to 16%, whereas the proportion of people in town B employed in sales witnessed a marginal rise of 2% during the same period. It is noticeable that people in both towns were least likely to work in sales.
